LIGHT AND SOUND

Light and sound are ways of transmitting energy through waves. Light can be described based on its properties as both electromagnetic waves and photons. We can model the way light refracts through lenses, like those in our eyes, using geometrical optics. The absorption and emission of electromagnetic waves can be used to analyze chemical compounds and determine their molecular structure. Sound is the longitudinal transmission of pressure waves and is used in ultrasound imaging. Both light and sound contribute to our perception of the world through our senses, and facilitate communication and social interaction.
