But can you understand another human being through their writing? Can you empathize with their position, comprehend their arguments, and reason through their logic?

As a physician, you will be endlessly incorporating new research and ideas and reasoning through symptoms and diagnoses. Want to be a great doctor? You’ll need critical reasoning skills.

The questions on the CARS section fall into three categories, from basic to complex: foundations of comprehension, reasoning within the text, and reasoning beyond the text.

Reading comprehension is necessary in every section of the MCAT - not just CARS. Knowing the content is not enough. You need to parse through long, dense passages for relevant information, and reason through to the right answer, for every question.
