FOUNDATIONS OF COMPREHENSION

Can you understand another human being through their writing? Can you empathize with their position, comprehend their arguments, and reason through their logic? As a physician, you will be endlessly incorporating new research and ideas, and reasoning through symptoms and diagnoses. You will need critical reasoning skills. And a healthy dose of humanities and social sciences will make you a more well rounded professional.

The questions on the CARS section fall into three categories:

Foundations of comprehension is about surface level, basic understanding of the text - the main points, and assumptions the author makes. You might be asked “what is the central thesis of a text”, or the meaning of a phrase in context.
