REASONING BEYOND THE TEXT

Reasoning beyond the text introduces a new piece of information and will have you evaluate it in the context of the passage. This could be a new scenario that you have to apply ideas from the passage to, or a new piece of evidence that affects an argument made in the text.

Reading comprehension and critical reasoning skills are necessary in every section of the MCAT, not just CARS. This is a critical point - knowing the content is not enough. You need to be able to parse through long, dense passages for the relevant information, and reason through your knowledge to determine the right answer, for every subject, and every question.
