You probably don’t remember this, but you were once a single-celled organism. Look at you now! It’s incredible how far you’ve come.

The life cycle of a cell is fundamental to understanding the nature of life itself. In order for tissue to grow, cells must continually divide through mitosis. Failure in biosignalling can lead to uncontrollable cell growth - in other words, cancer.

But regulated properly, cell division can lead to something beautiful - the formation of new life. A single, fertilized cell divides many times to form a zygote, then an embryo, and then, a baby. Isn’t that lovely?
